Dorset Enterprises deck out beach pods in style

Punch and Judy deckchairs and windbreaks decorated with images of surfers will be part of the finishing touches to the Boscombe Overstrand beach pods thanks to the skills of local disabled people.

The beach furniture has been manufactured by Dorset Enterprises, a craft workshop run by Bournemouth Borough Council providing employment in manufacturing for local people with a wide range of disabilities.

Neil Smurthwaite, Service Director for Community Care said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for us to get involved in such an exciting local project. The staff at Dorset enterprises have done an excellent job producing the specially designed deckchairs and windbreaks which I know will look great in the new beach pods.”

Wayne and Geradine Hemingway designed the fabric for the deckchairs and windbreaks which has been fitted onto the frames by Dorset Enterprises. The designs are inspired by the 1950’s style of the refurbished beach pods. Designs include Punch and Judy, surfer and children playing on the beach.
