Deadline looms for local entrepreneurs to apply for Boscombe business support

New and emerging creative entrepreneurs have until Monday 30 April to apply for support through the Council’s ‘Talent’ programme to help boost business in the Pokesdown area of Boscombe.

As part of the ongoing work of the Boscombe Regeneration Partnership, the Council is encouraging creative entrepreneurs to apply for a business support grant of £2,000 to open up a shop in the Pokesdown area of Boscombe through its business support programme called ‘Talent’.

This is the second opportunity for local businesses following a successful first round before Christmas. Up to four selected new businesses will be offered a business support grant to help find accommodation in commercial premises in the Pokesdown area that are currently standing empty. The project is looking for vibrant, exciting business proposals that will complement and add to the unique character of Pokesdown.

Local organisation, WSX Enterprise, who support small and medium sized enterprises has become a partner of the programme and will sit on the selection panel and will provide free training to successful applicants.

Matthew Butcher, Enterprise Manager at WSX Enterprise, said: “WSX are delighted to support this initiative as we are focused on supporting new businesses and the huge benefits a vibrant culture of enterprise brings to an area.”

‘Talent’ also incorporates a number of other projects in Boscombe including:

Temporary arts exhibition space
Boscombe Vintage Market
Street art and performance
Arts events and activities

Creative entrepreneurs are invited to apply for the business support programme by completing an application form available online at:
