Bournemouth lights up with the Arts by the Sea Festival 2015

Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival returns for its fifth year, from Friday 9 to Sunday 18 October 2015, with ten days of events, installations and experiences for everyone to enjoy.

Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival will enlighten those autumnal days and nights with a rich mix of music, dance and visual arts across spaces and interesting venues throughout the town. All kicking off with a family friendly opening weekend, when Bournemouth town centre, gardens and seafront come to life with a colourful array of art and activities for all ages. Urban-Reef-Img8947_1200

The Arts by the Sea Festival will use Bournemouth’s spectacular coastline setting to provide 10 days of novel and exciting performances.  This year the Festival will bring a renewed focus on visual arts and the involvement of local artists, through future competitions and commissions, as well as recognising 2015 as the International Year of Light. So expect a bright and vivid programme, in an unparalleled location, and some unexpected surprises in there too.

Arts Bournemouth works all year round with local artists, arts and educational organisations and national arts agencies to bring together the annual Festival. Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival is jointly funded by the Arts Council, Arts University Bournemouth, Pavilion Dance South West and Bournemouth Borough Council.

Councillor Jane Kelly, Portfolio Holder for Partnerships, Regeneration and Public Health at Bournemouth Borough Council, said; “We’re over the moon that Bournemouth’s flagship celebration of the arts is back for its fifth year. As always Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival looks sure to deliver its characteristic selection of thought-provoking and awe-inspiring events. Building upon the success of 2014’s dazzling festival, this year’s Arts by the Sea looks to be the highlight of the autumn.”
